Many car enthusiasts hold the 356 model as the first Porsche because it was the first model that was actually sold by the new company. The 356 had the engine, gearbox and suspension from the Volkswagen. In addition to those parts it did have many different stages of A, B and C while the car was in production .Eventually the cars that had the Volkswagen parts were replaced by official Porsche parts.
The last few 356 cars were actually powered all Porsche designed engines. The new slender and sporty body work were designed by a man named Erwin Komenda, he was the same designer who designed the body of the Beetle. The first CEO of Porsche was Dr Ernst Furhmann he had previously worked in the Porsche’s development department. He was the one whose claim to fame was the Fuhrmann engine that was used in the 356 Carrera and the 550 Spyder.
