Porsche Carrera GT
At one time this car was considered Porsche’s supercar. The creation of this model car goes back to the successor of the 911 GT-98 and the LMI -98 which were racing cars rather than luxury cars. Due to changes in the FIA and the ACO rule changes the racing car line ended in 1998. At that time the company was planning on a new version of the LeMans prototype for 1999 but the car was supposed to be a flat 6 but had to be later changed to a V10 and the completion date moved from 1999 to 2000.
The Carrera GT was born and like many other Porsches it is a high performance car, it had a 5.7 litre V10 engines. It created a 612 DIN Horsepower; the original design had the engine powered by a 558 Horsepower engine. The Porsche Company boasted that this new Carrerra GT could go from 0 to 100 in 3.9 seconds but when the car was road tested it was proven to go from 0 to 60 in 3.5 seconds and 0 to 100 in 6.8 seconds with a top speed of 209 to 215 miles per hour.
The new Carrera GT has new carbon fiber monocoque and a sub frame, a dry sump lubrication and inboard suspension. The interior of the car is leather and has a BOSE audio system and a navigational optional system. In keeping with Porsche tradition the ignition is on the left side of the steering wheel. The reason why Porsche does this is dated back to the days of Le Mans where cars were started by the running start and the ignition had to be on the left side for easy ignition. Porsche is synonymous with speed and sports car; they continue to make a great line of cars that get better every year.
