Porsche 97
The Porsche Type 997 or more commonly referred as the 997 is a project code for the car which is a current version of the Porsche 911. Production began on these cars in 2004 and produced two other variants the Porsche Carrera and the Carrera S Coupe. These were all wheel drive and they were released in 2005 and the Turbo and GT3 versions were released in late 2006. The 996 Carrera used were 325 horsepower and the Carrera S used a 3.8 litre L flat 6 engine that produced 355 horsepower. The X51 powerkit with a 381 horsepower output is available only as an option for the Carrera S model, Carrera 4S and the Targa 4S models.
The car was road tested several times by different American Auto Magazines and they found that the Turbo can go from 0 to 62 in about 3.7 seconds and the Carrera S model is set to go from 0 to 60 in 3.9 seconds and both cars carry a top speed of 186 miles per hour. The base Carrera or 997 goes from 0 to 60 in 4.4 seconds and a top speed of 175 miles per hours.
These tests that were done were very different than what Porsche claimed these cars could do, but that did not stop consumers from buying the cars anyway. In 2006, The Porsche 911 Club Coupe was created for a limited time; there were only 50 cars were manufacturer as a commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Porsche Club of America. The 997 Turbo Porsche was released in February 2006, The GT3 model debuted in Geneva in 2006. The newest in this line is the GT2 which has been spotted being test driven in Nurburgring.
