Porsche 959

This style of Porsche was manufactured from 1986 to 1986 and it was recognized as Porsches first true blue supercar. During the production of the car it was highly regarded as the car with the most technologically advanced road going sport scar that was ever built. It was also called the beginning of all sports cars in the future. It really was the world’s first high performance car that used an all wheel vehicle drive system. This car was the basics for all of Porsches all wheel drive cars including the Carrera 4 model.

They likes the design so much that that they convinced the executive of the performance of the car that they decided to make all wheel drive standard on all versions of the 911 Turbo that started with the 993 variant. During the reign of the 959, there was only one car that could compare with the performance of the 959 and that was the Ferrari F40.

In the sport production run of the 959 only 200 road legal version were built but amazingly performance has always kept a high value even though this model car did not. By 1991 the introduction of the 964 had started using many of the technologies from the 959 and 964. The 964 was the first 911 that was available with four wheel drive. The successor to the 964 was the Porsche 993 Carrera 4 and the Turbo models were modeled after the 959. The 959 lived on in these cars.

The 959 was so popular that Jerry Seinfeld, Bill Gates and Paul Allen all own one. The 959 was also featured in many games such as Turbo Out Run, Test Drive II, Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed, Rad Mobile and Forza Motorsport. When a car that was powerful as the 959 it lives on.
